Fishing The Fermanagh Lakelands. An
angler’s paradise.
County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland is a haven for anglers and is
famous for its hundreds of miles of river, Upper and Lower Lough Erne,
the feeder rivers and the many other smaller Loughs and lakes.
The waters in County Fermanagh offer the angler some of the best
coarse fishing and game fishing you could wish for and there is
fishing in County Fermanagh for everyone, male or female, experts or
beginners, young or old.
If you are a coarse angler fishing for bream, roach, pike etc. or a
game fisherman fishing for salmon or trout, with so many places to
fish in County Fermanagh you will be spoilt for choice.
The coarse angler will find some of the finest fishing available in
Europe, with bream, roach and hybrids in abundance as well as perch
and tench. Add to this pike fishing that is second to none - whether
seeking to catch them on fly or in a more traditional manner, the
region offers all anglers wonderful opportunities.
For game anglers there are many opportunities to fish for salmon and
wild brown trout as well as stocked rainbow and brown trout. Lough
Melvin in County Fermanagh is one of Ireland’s most famous Loughs and
is home to three distinct species of trout – the sonaghan, the
gillaroo and the ferox
There is no close season for the coarse fisherman and it is possible
for the game angler to fish during all twelve months as many rainbow
trout fisheries remain open all year round.
