National Fishing Week
Now in its 15th year,
National Fishing Week has introduced tens of thousands of newcomers to the
sport, and is recognised as critical to the sport’s development and
future.
If you'd like to try fishing
then National Fishing Week is your big chance.
National Fishing Week is an annual event which aims to promote the sport
of angling to everyone and to reach some thousands of potential anglers
who want to try out fishing but maybe unsure of how to get started. You
won't need any tackle, bait, experience or rod licence and expert coaches
will be on hand to show you how to set up and make the most of your
angling.
What is National Fishing Week?
If you'd like to try fishing then National Fishing Week is your big
chance. All over the country qualified coaches give their time to welcome
newcomers to a marvellous sport. Fees are generally waived and tackle is
often made available free of charge too. There really is no better time to
experience this healthy, stress-busting, outdoor activity and you might
even get to take your tea home too!
If you already fish then National Fishing Week is your chance to share
your passion by organising, promoting or helping with an event - every new
face could become a keen angler and a champion of the sport you love.
National Fishing Week embraces all disciplines within the sport, namely
Sea, Coarse and Game Fishing so there should be a chance to get involved
somewhere near you
What is the aim of National Fishing Week?
The aim of National Fishing Week
is twofold:
To improve the lifestyle of youngsters, women, retired or disabled people
by introducing them into the sport of angling and all its various aspects
as an enjoyable, relaxing, therapeutic and environmentally friendly
pastime.
To increase individual commitment to and participation in the conservation
and enhancement of our aquatic resources.
What is actually going to happen?
From the 19-27th July the length and breadth of the United Kingdom there
will be 100’s of locally organised angling events offering non-anglers the
opportunity to be taught how to fish, FREE OF CHARGE, by a qualified
licensed Coach and within a controlled environment.
