Welcome to Fortview House

My
name is Catherine Smith and I am the owner of Fortview House, a renowned

our boat is

Fishing information: |
|
Fortview House is perfectly situated in the middle of Ireland’s most
famous coarse fishing area where the roach, rudd, bream, hybrids,
perch, and tench are most prolific and can be found throughout the
whole of the system including the rivers Erne, Annalee and Woodford.
The
area is ideal for pike fishing with over 300 lakes or loughs, as they are known in Ireland,
within 10km of Fortview House, almost all of which are free to fish.
Killykeen Forest Park is only a 20 minute drive away, as are the
fishing centres at Arva, Bawnboy and Cootehill.
There are far too many other local hot spots to be able to list them
here, and there are some which are only fished by Fortview House
guests and are not generally known or publicised, in any event there
is a large framed map of all the available water in the area hanging
on the dining room wall.
One thing is guaranteed, you will never be stuck for somewhere to
fish. Rod licences are not required
FREE use of our boat for guests
|
|
The
map gives you some idea of the vast network of loughs which form part
of the lower Erne system, Lough Oughter is a particularly favoured
spot, and forms part of the Killykeen Forest Park. The best swims are
to the right of the car park overlooking the famous island castle.
Putiaghan Lough near Belturbet holds a good head of tench, and
Drumlaney Lough very close to Fortview House has several sets of
double platforms, just a short walk from the roadside and is well
worth a visit. If you prefer some moving water then the River Annalee
at Butlersbridge is only a 5 minute drive away, here you can park on
the river bank next to the pub!
