Your host Andy specialises in Coarse and Pike fishing and offers guiding and also tuition for beginners. Andy also offers a FREE BOAT SERVICE taking guests out prebaiting and fishing to secluded and impossible to reach on foot areas in his 19ft lake boat with state of the art fish finder.  These boats are also available for hire.

Gwencol bed and breakfast is a family business run by your hosts Emma and Andrew McFarlane. Situated on the edge of the Cavan Lakelands overlooking the mighty Lough Sheelin and with over 300 lakes available for Coarse, Pike and Trout fishing, Gwencol bed and breakfast accommodation is an anglers dream fishing holiday.

Andrew is a mad keen fisherman formerly from England and with anglers in mind he has set up the house perfectly to cover all of the needs of guests on a fishing holiday in Ireland.

The accommodation caters for up to 8 people and consists of two en-suit bedrooms and a twin bedroom with a shared bath / shower room. When you get up in the morning you can set yourself up for your days fishing with a full English breakfast in the spacious dining room with log / turf burning range. In the evening upon your return from your fishing trip and after you have enjoyed a 3 coarse evening meal, you can rest in our cosy living room and talk about the ones that, 'didn't' get away or watch satellite T.V or a DVD.  If you fancy a quiet drink the beautiful village of Finea with its lovely pubs is only 2 miles away. 

For your comfort all rooms are centrally heated and the bedrooms have hot drink making facilities.

To the outside we have private off road parking, secure tackle storage garage with fridges and freezers for your bait. Fishing bait can be ordered directly from us to be here for your arrival.

   Fishing in Cavan, Ireland

The Fishing in Cavan is renowned worldwide and many festivals and fishing contests are held in and around the area each year.

Here at Gwencol we have easy access to all the major angling centres with over 300 fishing lakes and miles of unspoilt stretches of the river Inny and the Erne.

The local venues are numerous and include Lough Sheelin, Cavan's premiere pike and game fishery. The start of the river Inny and Lough Kinale, (a specimen Bream and Tench water and home of the Irish Record Specimen Roach/Bream Hybrid)

Lough Gowna one of the Mecca's for anglers with its massive shoals of bream and hybrids is only 10 minutes away.

For the river anglers, fishing the river Shannon at Lanesborough is only a 35 minute drive away. Lanesborough is well know for its, 'Hot Stretch', named after the hot water from the local power station - this venue can produce many 'tons'.

The Royal canal at Mullingar which is stuffed with Tench and other waters are Loughs Lacken, Ramor, Bracklaugh, Corglass and Kill, plus several smaller lakes.
All these waters hold an excellent stock of Bream, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Perch, Pike, Trout and Hybrids.

For my angling guests that want to explore the vast waters by themselves I have 19ft lake boats fitted with fish finders available for hire and I can provide my own detailed fishing maps.

I also offer a FREE service whereby I can take you out pre-baiting, drop you off at pre-selected swims or take you to where the fish are less pressured and free biting.

I have 19ft lake boats fitted with state of the art fish finders which are available for hire but if you just need a taxi service to get to where the fish are less pressured and free biting I will be happy to take you out prebaiting or fishing to the more secluded shores in one of my 19ft lake boats FREE OF CHARGE..

I provide this service on most days and two benefits are, it not only puts you onto the fish, with the chance of catching a specimen or the, 'magical ton', it also save you the burden of having to carry mountains of tackle to your favourite swims. Just hop in the boat and get delivered right to your chosen spot.

I also specialise in Pike fishing and guiding, covering all types of fishing from trolling and bottom bouncing, to static deadbaiting and stand up lure fishing in my American 16ft aluminium lake boat coupled with my state of the art GPS fish finder. If required I will be more than happy  to be your guide. I will also happily give tuition to beginners, or I can just provide my own detailed maps and locations for the more experienced predator angler.
