FISHERY INFORMATION

facilities for disabled anglers  Disabled persons welcome

Tansterne Fishery is a complex of 3 ponds in the hamlet of Tansterne in East Yorkshire. We are situated approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north east of Sproatley and 1 mile (1.6 km) south west of Aldbrough.

Our Fishery is a float only venue and we have a number of pegs available for disabled anglers with the facility to park within 20 yards of the fishing pegs.

The three ponds have a total of 48 pegs and we have free car parking and two porta loos for your use. The fishery is open all year, and fishing is available from dawn until dusk.

Tansterne Fishing Ponds are also available for match bookings and charity events – with special rates for large bookings.

Carp Fishing
Carp anglers, we have carp up to 30lb and common carp up to 18lb - although please remember this is a float only venue and may not be suitable for those of you who like to fish using buzzers / bait alarms and ledgers for the big fish.

Coarse Fishing
For the coarse fisherman we have Barbel, Chub, Tench, Ide, Perch and thousands of ghost carp etc.

General Tactics
In the summer season most baits will work although Maggots tends to attract the perch.
Corn - pellet - meat - bread - chopped worm - cheese - paste. They all work
Floating baits are allowed but used on the hook only, with no freebies as this spoils the swims for other anglers

MAIN POND
The main pond is split in two by a walkway bridge
As you view the main pond from the car park . . .
Pegs 1 to 7 and 21-28 are to the left
Pegs 8 to 20 are to the right

The fish in the main pond include:-
fish in this fishery  Mirror carp to 30lb

Pond depths
The pond is 3 feet 6 inches deep around the island and falling away to 5 feet 6 inches after the sunken island at peg 4 and 26.
Once you cross over the bridge, the depth increases to 7 feet and there is a ledge around the island that sits about 2 feet under the surface and protrudes 2-3 feet

CANAL POND
On the far side of Canal Pond there are two ledges

The first ledge is approx 2 feet six under the water and 3 feet wide and the second ledge is a further 2 feet six under the water and protrudes for another 3 feet
On the side you fish from there is yet another ledge under the water and this is 3 to 4 feet wide and 3 feet deep
The middle of the pond fishes to 9 feet at the deepest point
This pond is 11 metres across at its narrowest point and 14 metres at its widest
You can only fish from one bank in this pond
