Fishery Information
Murphy's and Woodside Ponds are two very well established and maintained coarse fishing ponds set in the tranquil countryside with wildlife is in abundance.
Both ponds have been stocked since the late 90's early 2000, allowing the fish to grow naturally to some considerable sizes.
A perfect fishing venue for pleasure anglers, match fishermen and carp anglers alike.
Whether you are looking to catch a lot of fish or a personal best, Murphy's and Woodside Pond is the place to be
Woodside pond is the smaller of the two ponds. The first developed it contains 19 pegs and is situated at the edge of a wood which provides much needed shelter against the elements.
Woodside pond
The pond has a natural shape to it and there is excellent growth of marginal reeds, lily pads and over hanging trees.
A fabulous array of specimen carp can be found in Woodside pond such as, mirror and common carp, averaging weights 5lb upwards to mid 20lbs.
Anglers have informed us that they have caught carp from upper 20lbs to low 30lbs.
Other fish include Crucian carp. Roach, Tench, Ide, Bream, Rudd and Perch. Weights vary from 1lb upwards to a recently caught 3lb 9oz Perch
The car park is situated next to the pond providing easy access to disabled anglers and only a couple of metres to the nearest peg.
Both ponds have hard standing to all pegs and surrounding walkways, paths.
Murphy's pond
Murphy's pond has 43 pegs with many nooks and crannies for fishing in.
This pond is snake like in shape with three islands, two of which boast trees and a variety of marginal reeds.
In Murphys pond are specimen carp up to mid 20lb, F1 carp to 3.5lb, Bream, Roach, Tench, Ide, Rudd, Perch and Chub.
Murphy's pond has its own separate and spacious car park allowing access for disabled anglers.

Both ponds are noted for their good colour and depth making them perfect for all year round fishing.
Many anglers have given positive comments on the fantastic condition of our fish and how they put up a good fight.

Fishing from 7am until sunset.

Woodside pond closes at 21.00 during the summer months
All landing nets must be dipped
No fires
No litter, cigarette ends or disguarded tackle to be left onsite, please put in bins or take it home with you
No unaccompanied children
Anglers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult
Barbless hooks only
No bloodworm
No tinned pet food
No ground bait or nuts
No dogs allowed
Keep nets only allowed for matches, site nets provided for these events
Anglers to remain around the ponds and no untoward wandering.
No night fishing
No anglers to remain on site after dark
No boats or bait boats
No antisocial behaviour
Rods must not be left unattended
Cars must be parked in the car parks

From York
A64 take the A19 towards Selby for about a mile, turn left at traffic lights and head towards Wheldrake.
Continue for a further half a mile, Murphy's pond sign posted on the left with Woodside pond a further 100yards on the left.
Continue through Wheldrake for about two miles then turn right at mini cross roads at the Thorganby village sign.
From Selby
Take the A19 towards York, turn right onto the A163, turn left at crossroads signposted Skipwith.
Continue through Skipwith past drovers arms pub and take your next right signposted Thorganby.
Follow the road all the way through Thorganby until you reach mini crossroads.
Turn left and continue for half a mile with Murphy's pond sign posted on the left with Woodside pond a further 100 yards on the left.
Two of the islands can also be fished upon due to access via strong and sturdy bridges which are also compatible for disabled anglers
