Fishing Holidays and Accommodation in County Antrim
County Antrim is located in the north east of
Ireland and is one of six counties that make up Northern
Ireland. Probably more well known for the Giants Causeway, the
hexagonal shaped basalt columns on the sea coast and the Old
Bushmills Whiskey Distillery, which is reputed to be the
oldest licensed distillery in the world.
Angling
in County Antrim offers game, sea and coarse fishing.
There are numerous lakes, rivers and canals to choose from and
most hold an abundance of fish.
Don't forget your fishing licence and check
whether you need a permit / day ticket before fishing.
For the game angler, fly fishing, spinning and worm fishing
for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and rainbow trout is
available on many waters. Many lakes offer day tickets and
rivers are divided into day ticket beats.
Coarse anglers can expect to catch most coarse fish including,
bream, roach, hybrids, tench, pike, perch and eels. County
Antrim is favourite with pike anglers with some of the waters
home to specimen pike.
Some fisheries are available which have facilities for anglers
with disabilities.
The coast of County Antrim offers the sea angler both shore
and boat fishing. Most fish species found in the waters off
the UK can be caught and these include cod, pollack, whiting,
flounder, plaice, bass, mackerel, coalfish, wrasse, haddock,
turbot, dogfish, and conger eels.
