The well known Lake Windermere allows fishing and anglers can target the massive pike, wild brown trout, roach, perch, eels, char and seasonal salmon and sea trout.

Coniston Water and Ullswater are also good for pike and wild brown trout fishing.
The best time to fish for wild brown trout is from early spring through to summer and fishing the colder winter months is noted as the best times for catching pike.
Commercial fisheries can be found in Cumbria although there are few Carp fishing venues. Ratherheath Tarn in Kendal and Haig Angling Clubs Mirehouse Ponds in Whitehaven hold carp.
Fly Fishing in Cumbria
There are many venues that provide fly fishing opportunities for bank or boat fishing and anglers say the wild brown trout fishing is excellent, followed by salmon and sea trout angling. Pike are also caught fly fishing but make sure you have the right tackle for catching them.
