Coarse Fishing in Cumbria

The well known Lake Windermere allows fishing and anglers can target the massive pike, wild brown trout, roach, perch, eels, char and seasonal salmon and sea trout.

Day ticket fishing is available in Cumbria and local angling clubs who own the fishing on many waters offer visiting anglers day or weekly permits or temporary membership

Coniston Water and Ullswater are also good for pike and wild brown trout fishing.

The best time to fish for wild brown trout is from early spring through to summer and fishing the colder winter months is noted as the best times for catching pike.

Commercial fisheries can be found in Cumbria although there are few Carp fishing venues. Ratherheath Tarn in Kendal and Haig Angling Clubs Mirehouse Ponds in Whitehaven hold carp.
