Fisheries and Fishing in Perthshire

Perthshire is located in the Highlands of Scotland and is well known by anglers all over the world for its fantastic salmon fishing. Indeed, one of the rivers in Perthshire, the River Tay, is one of the premier salmon fishing rivers in Europe and since 1922 it has and still does hold the UK Game Fish record for a salmon capture - a magnificent fish of 64lb caught by Miss Ballantyne.

Although known for its Salmon fishing in Scotland, Perthshire also has some superb angling in its lochs and burns for brown and rainbow trout along with pike, perch and grayling. Anglers may also catch char and ferox trout There are various rivers that offer quality fly fishing for trout with some fine hard fighting wild brown trout to be caught. Although not as widespread as trout fisheries, anglers will also be happy to know that day ticket coarse angling is also available in Perthshire.
