Fishing Holidays in Scotland

Argyll and Bute, located on the west coast of Scotland incorporates the isles of Mull, Jurra, Islay and a few smaller isles. The area is a diverse landscape of mountains, glens, rivers and lochs with forests and woodlands covering over 30 percent of the land area.
The area is renowned for its Salmon fishing, Trout fishing, Sea fishing and Coarse fishing. With the many rivers, lochs and varied coastline there is plenty of opportunities for anglers to cast a line.

River Fishing
Some fantastic river fishing for salmon, grilse, trout, and sea trout can be had in Argyll and Bute. Most of the rivers have salmon beats with some of the pools producing excellent salmon catches.
The River Awe which links Loch Awe to the sea can be fished on a weekly or day permit and is superb for salmon fishing with many fish caught each year.
Other rivers include the Orchy, Eachaig, Lussa, Douglas, Goil and Ruel . . . the list goes on but the owner of the fishing holiday property will be able to give you more information or put you in touch with someone who can.

Loch Fishing
Mention loch fishing in Argyll and Bute and anglers will immediately think of Loch Awe, famous for its wild brown trout fishing. This loch is huge and has many areas and bays perfect for rainbow and wild brown trout fly fishing. Loch Awe holds the record for the UK Brown Trout - see here - and rainbow trout. For the coarse angler fishing in Loch Awe produces some mighty big pike of 30lb plus and perch.
For those on a fishing holiday in Argyll and Bute just starting to fish, Inverawe Fisheries has four lochs and a fishing school where you can learn the art of fly fishing.

Sea Angling
Fishing holidays in Argyll and Bute are popular with Sea Anglers for shore fishing and wreck fishing. Charter boats are available for sea angling from various ports in Argyll and Bute and the captain will put you onto some fine cod, pollack and dogfish. Very large conger are caught each year when fishing the wrecks in the area.
